This error indicates that there is a gap in the sequence of process instances, which prevents the deletion of certain instances.
Cause:
- Gap in Process Instances: The most common cause of this error is that there are missing or incomplete process instances in the sequence. For example, if process instances are expected to be sequentially numbered and there is a missing number in that sequence, the system will not allow deletion.
- Data Integrity Issues: There may be data integrity issues in the database where the process instances are stored, leading to inconsistencies.
- Active Instances: There may be active instances that are still in progress or have not been completed, which can also prevent deletion.
Solution:
- Check Process Instances: Review the process instances in the system to identify any gaps or missing instances. You can do this by querying the database or using transaction codes related to process monitoring.
- Complete or Cancel Active Instances: If there are active instances that are causing the issue, you may need to complete or cancel them before attempting to delete the problematic instances.
- Data Consistency Check: Perform a data consistency check to ensure that all process instances are correctly recorded and that there are no missing entries.
- Manual Deletion: If necessary, you may need to manually delete the problematic instances from the database, but this should be done with caution and ideally under the guidance of SAP support or a database administrator.
