Message text: Wizard can be called only for material numbers with maximum 30 digits
The number of the configurable material is longer than 30 digits.
If one tries to create a table constraint (i.e. a constraint with a
variant table in the source code) by the wizard in PMEVC, for a material
number longer than 30 digits an error message is raised. The reason for
this is: The syntax check of the configurator can handle only material
numbers with maximum 30 digits.
You may still create a table constraint with a class instead of a
material. For this, call the wizard after selecting a class in the model
tree of transaction PMEVC.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

PMEVC_UI801
- Wizard can be called only for material numbers with maximum 30 digits ?The SAP error message PMEVC_UI801 indicates that the wizard you are trying to use is restricted to material numbers that have a maximum length of 30 digits. This error typically occurs in the context of SAP's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Material Management (MM) modules, where material numbers are used to identify products.
Cause:
- Material Number Length: The primary cause of this error is that the material number you are trying to use exceeds the maximum allowed length of 30 characters. In SAP, material numbers are often defined with a specific length, and exceeding this limit will trigger the error.
- Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in your SAP system that define the maximum length of material numbers, and if your material number exceeds this configuration, the error will occur.
Solution:
- Check Material Number: Verify the material number you are using. Ensure that it is 30 characters or fewer. If it exceeds this limit, you will need to use a valid material number that complies with the length restriction.
- Use Alternative Material: If the material number you are trying to use is indeed longer than 30 digits, consider using an alternative material number that fits within the limit.
- Review Configuration: If you believe that the material number should be valid, check the configuration settings in your SAP system. You may need to consult with your SAP administrator or technical team to review the settings related to material number lengths.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for more information on material number formats and restrictions.
