Message type: E = Error
Message class: PERFTRAC - Messages on Global Performance Analysis
Message number: 024
Message text: Performance data saved, cleared data buffer, and created new process GUID
All performance data that was created since the program started or
since the last save was posted to the database. The system has emptied
the data buffer for the program.
After saving, the system generates a new process GUID so that you can
save new performace data under this log GUID.
If you want to display the performance data that is already stored on
the database, the program buffers are also emptied and filled with the
data from the database. As there is already a log GUID for the saved
data, you can no longer save it under a new log GUID.

PERFTRAC024
- Performance data saved, cleared data buffer, and created new process GUID ?The SAP error message PERFTRAC024 indicates that performance data has been saved, the data buffer has been cleared, and a new process GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) has been created. This message is typically related to the performance tracing functionality in SAP, which is used to monitor and analyze the performance of various processes within the SAP system.
Cause:
- Performance Tracing: The message is generated when the performance tracing mechanism in SAP is activated. It indicates that the system has successfully saved the performance data collected up to that point.
- Buffer Management: The clearing of the data buffer is a normal operation to ensure that the system does not run out of memory or storage for performance data. This is particularly relevant in systems with high transaction volumes.
- New Process GUID: The creation of a new process GUID signifies that a new performance tracing session has started. This is part of the system's way of managing and organizing performance data.
Solution:
- Monitoring: If you are seeing this message frequently, it may be beneficial to monitor the performance of your SAP system to ensure that it is operating efficiently. Use transaction codes like ST03N (Workload Analysis) or ST05 (SQL Trace) to analyze performance.
- Adjust Tracing Settings: If the performance tracing is generating too much data or is impacting system performance, consider adjusting the tracing settings. You can do this in transaction ST01 (System Trace) or ST03N (Workload Analysis) to limit the amount of data collected or to change the frequency of data saving.
- Review Performance Data: Regularly review the saved performance data to identify any bottlenecks or issues that may need to be addressed. This can help in optimizing system performance.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to performance tracing for more detailed guidance on managing performance data and interpreting the results.
Related Information:
If the message is not causing any performance issues or errors in your SAP system, it may simply be informational and can be monitored without immediate action. However, if you notice performance degradation or other related issues, further investigation may be warranted.
