  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

    The database systems released in the PPMS for software component release
    &V2& &V3& have not been defined in the PPMS. As a result, no values can
    be transferred to the NEEDED_DBSYS package attribute of package &V1& in
    the Software Delivery Assembler (SDA).

    System Response

    The system terminates the activity and the package status remains
    unchanged.

    How to fix this error?

    You have the following options to transfer the value of the component
    type consistently:
    If no values are required in the NEEDED_DBSYS attribute, delete the
    values in the PPMS. Then carry out the relevant activity again in the
    SDA.
    In contrast, if values are to be transferred from the PPMS, define and
    save these in the PPMS. Then register the package again in the SDA with
    the "Change Attributes" option.

    Procedure for System Administrators

    Check the NEEDED_DBSYS package attribute:
    <ZK>Transaction SSDA</> --> <LS>Administration</> tab --> specify the
    package name --> <LS>Attributes</> --> <LS>Extended Attributes</>
    Check the releases for database systems in the PPMS:
    <ZK>Transaction BOPP --> Software Components by Technical Name or
    Release --> Technical Name (Software Component)/Techn. Release (Release)
    --> Go --> Link Name of Object --> Releases --> Database Systems</>
    If necessary, contact the PPMS entry owners for software component
    release &V2& &V3&. You can find this using the menu function in SDA:
    Enter the name of the package into the <LS>Package</> field on the <LS>
    Administration</> tab and choose <ZH>Environment --> PPMS Contacts</>.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message OT531 - Database dependency in PPMS requires NEEDED_DBSYS attribute for pckg. &1 ?

    The SAP error message OT531 indicates that there is a database dependency issue in the SAP Process Integration (PI) or Process Orchestration (PO) system, specifically related to the Package Management System (PPMS). The error message states that the NEEDED_DBSYS attribute is required for the specified package.

    Cause:

    The error typically arises when a package in the SAP system is missing the necessary database system attribute (NEEDED_DBSYS). This attribute is essential for the package to function correctly, as it defines the database system that the package is dependent on. If this attribute is not set, the system cannot determine the appropriate database context for the package, leading to the error.

    Solution:

    To resolve the OT531 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Package Attributes:

      • Go to the transaction code SE80 (Object Navigator) or SE38 (ABAP Editor) in your SAP system.
      • Locate the package that is causing the error (indicated by &1 in the error message).
      • Check the attributes of the package to see if the NEEDED_DBSYS attribute is defined.
    2. Set the NEEDED_DBSYS Attribute:

      • If the NEEDED_DBSYS attribute is missing, you will need to set it. This can typically be done in the package settings.
      • You may need to consult with your SAP Basis or development team to determine the correct database system that should be associated with the package.
    3. Transport Requests:

      • If you are working in a development environment, ensure that any changes made to the package attributes are included in a transport request so that they can be moved to the quality assurance or production environment.
    4. Check Dependencies:

      • Review any other dependencies that the package may have. Ensure that all required components and configurations are in place.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to the specific package or the PPMS for any additional guidance or known issues.
    6. System Restart:

      • In some cases, a system restart or a refresh of the cache may be required for the changes to take effect.
