This typically occurs in scenarios where the system is trying to convert stock quantities from one unit of measure to another, but there is a problem with the configuration or data in the material master.
Cause:
- Incorrect UoM Configuration: The UoM settings in the material master may not be correctly defined. This includes the base unit of measure and any alternative units of measure.
- Missing Conversion Factors: There may be missing or incorrect conversion factors between the base unit of measure and the alternative units of measure.
- Stock Type Issues: The stock type (e.g., unrestricted, quality inspection, blocked) may not be properly defined for the selected UoM.
- Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies in the data related to stock levels, such as negative stock or incorrect stock levels in the system.
Solution:
Check Material Master Data:
- Go to the material master (transaction code MM03) and check the UoM settings.
- Ensure that the base unit of measure is correctly defined and that all alternative units of measure have valid conversion factors.
Review Conversion Factors:
- In the material master, navigate to the "Units of Measure" view and verify that the conversion factors between the base unit and alternative units are correctly set up.
Check Stock Levels:
- Use transaction codes like MMBE (Stock Overview) to check the stock levels for the material in different UoMs and ensure there are no discrepancies.
Adjust Stock Types:
- Ensure that the stock types are correctly defined and that the stock is available in the expected UoM.
Repost Stock:
- If there are inconsistencies, you may need to repost stock or perform a stock adjustment to correct the quantities.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific details on handling UoM issues and error messages.
