SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: MW - Messages IS-R / Allocation Tables

  • Message number: 524

  • Message text: For material & the system recalculated the planned qty (&,&,&).

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

In calculating the plant quantities from the item quantity, the system
recalculated the item quantity for material &V1&:
    Quantity determined: &V2& &V4&
    Original qty: &V3& &V4&
The reasons for this could be as follows:
Allocation of remaining quantities (default from allocation table type)
If this indicator is set to "Accept remainder - adjust total quantity",
differences that occur when the item quantity is split among the plants
will be accepted. The item quantity is then automatically adjusted.
Quota category in allocation rule is "Fixed quantity"
In this case the quotas in the allocation rule are interpreted not as
ratios but as fixed quantities. The system adopts them as planned
quantities for the plants. The item planned quantity is the sum of all
quantities for the plants in an item.
    Allocation strategy provides planned quantity
In this case, you used an allocation strategy that determines the
actual planned quantity (and not a ratio) for each plant. The planned
quantity for the item is the sum of the planned quantities for all the
    plants in the item.
    Rounding off indicator
If this is set to "Round off as per rounding profile" (i.e. order
optimizing is active), differences can occur.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MW524 - For material & the system recalculated the planned qty (&,&,&). ?

The SAP error message MW524 typically indicates that there is an issue with the planned quantity of a material in the system. This message is often related to the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process, where the system recalculates the planned quantities based on various factors such as demand, supply, and inventory levels.

    Cause:

    1. Changes in Demand or Supply: The planned quantity may have been recalculated due to changes in demand (sales orders, forecasts) or supply (purchase orders, production orders).
    2. MRP Run: If an MRP run was executed, it could lead to recalculations of planned quantities based on the latest data.
    3. Configuration Issues: Incorrect settings in the MRP configuration or master data (like material master, BOM, routing) can lead to unexpected recalculations.
    4. Stock Levels: If stock levels have changed (due to receipts, issues, or adjustments), the system may recalculate the planned quantities accordingly.

    Solution:

    1. Review MRP Results: Check the MRP results for the material in question. You can use transaction codes like MD04 (Stock/Requirements List) to see the current situation of the material.
    2. Check Master Data: Ensure that the material master data, BOM, and routing are correctly configured. Look for any discrepancies that might affect the planning.
    3. Analyze Demand and Supply: Review any recent changes in demand (sales orders, forecasts) or supply (purchase orders, production orders) that could have triggered the recalculation.
    4. Run MRP Again: If necessary, you can run the MRP again to see if the planned quantities stabilize or if the issue persists.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific details related to the error message and its implications.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: MD04 (Stock/Requirements List), MD02 (MRP Run), MD05 (MRP List).
    • MRP Configuration: Review the MRP settings in the configuration (transaction SPRO) to ensure they align with your business processes.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address known issues or provide additional guidance related to this error message.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a functional consultant who specializes in MRP and materials management.
