  • What causes this issue?

You want to create procurement material &V3& based on sales material
&V2& to be used in the context of logistical materials.
A bill of material (BOM) for sales material &V2& contains empties. The
selected base unit of measure (UoM) &V1& for procurement material &V3&
does not match the existing BOM data for sales material &V2& for one of
    the following reasons:
At least one relevant BOM exists for sales material &V2& where the
number of BOM components does not match the number of BOM components for
    the selected base UoM &V1&.
At least one BOM exist for sales material &V2& that contains BOM
components that differ to the components in the BOM for the selected
    base UoM &V1&.

    System Response

To avoid a data inconsistency in the material master and to ensure that
the procurement material can be correctly used in logistics processes,
the system stops processing and does not allow you to create the
    material master data.

    How to fix this error?

If possible<(>,<)> choose another base UoM to create the procurement
material. Make sure that the BOM data in the resulting procurement
material is identical to the data in the BOMs for the base UoM, the
issue unit<(>,<)> and the order unit.
If this is not possible, choose another sales material to create the
    procurement material.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MU135 - Base UoM &1 does not match BOM data for sales material &2. ?

The SAP error message MU135 indicates that there is a mismatch between the base unit of measure (UoM) defined for a material and the unit of measure specified in the Bill of Materials (BOM) for that material. This error typically occurs when you are trying to perform operations such as creating a sales order, production order, or any other transaction that involves the material in question.

    Cause:

    1. Mismatch in UoM: The base unit of measure for the sales material does not match the unit of measure defined in the BOM. For example, if the base UoM for a material is set to "EA" (each) but the BOM specifies "KG" (kilograms), this will trigger the error.
    2. Incorrect BOM Configuration: The BOM may have been created or modified incorrectly, leading to discrepancies in the units of measure.
    3. Material Master Data Issues: The material master data may not be correctly maintained, leading to inconsistencies between the BOM and the material master.

    Solution:

    1. Check Material Master Data:

      • Go to the material master record (transaction code MM03) for the sales material and verify the base unit of measure.
      • Ensure that the base UoM is correctly defined and matches the expected UoM for the BOM.
    2. Review BOM Configuration:

      • Use transaction code CS03 to display the BOM for the material and check the units of measure used in the BOM.
      • If there is a mismatch, you may need to adjust the BOM to ensure that the unit of measure aligns with the base UoM of the material.
    3. Adjust BOM or Material Master:

      • If the BOM is incorrect, you can modify it using transaction code CS02 to change the unit of measure to match the base UoM of the material.
      • Alternatively, if the material master is incorrect, you can update it using transaction code MM02.
    4. Recheck Related Configurations:

      • Ensure that any related configurations, such as conversion factors or alternative units of measure, are correctly set up in the material master.
    5. Testing:

      • After making the necessary adjustments, test the transaction again to ensure that the error is resolved.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:

      • MM03: Display Material Master
      • MM02: Change Material Master
      • CS03: Display BOM
      • CS02: Change BOM
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed information on material master data and BOM management.

    • User Roles: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to the material master and BOM.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the MU135 error and ensure that the base unit of measure aligns with the BOM data for the sales material.
