- Changes to UoM record &1 are not permitted for material &2. ?The SAP error message MU114 ("Changes to UoM record &1 are not permitted for material &2") typically occurs when there is an attempt to modify the unit of measure (UoM) settings for a material that is not allowed due to certain restrictions or conditions in the system. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:
Cause:
- Material Status: The material may be in a status that does not allow changes to its UoM settings. For example, if the material is blocked or has been marked for deletion.
- Transaction Type: The transaction you are trying to perform may not allow changes to the UoM for that specific material type.
- UoM Configuration: The UoM configuration in the system may restrict changes. For instance, if the UoM is linked to certain transactions or processes that are currently active.
- Data Consistency: There may be existing transactions or records that depend on the current UoM, making it impossible to change without first addressing those dependencies.
Solution:
- Check Material Status: Verify the status of the material in the material master. If it is blocked or marked for deletion, you may need to change its status before making modifications.
- Review UoM Settings: Check the UoM settings in the material master. Ensure that the UoM you are trying to change is not being used in any active transactions.
- Use Appropriate Transactions: Ensure you are using the correct transaction codes for modifying UoM settings. For example, use MM02 for changing material master data.
- Consult with SAP Basis or Functional Team: If you are unsure about the restrictions or if the material is being used in other processes, consult with your SAP Basis or functional team for assistance.
- Check for Open Transactions: Look for any open purchase orders, sales orders, or other transactions that might be using the material in its current UoM. You may need to close or adjust these transactions before making changes.
