SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: MPE_RTG_UI - Messages for Routing Maintenance

  • Message number: 266

  • Message text: Routing does not have at least one operation that covers all validities

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The routing header has an unrestricted parameter effectivity range -
shown by the * in the Effectivity column of the routing structure.
However, all the operations of the routing have restricted parameter
effectivity ranges. The parameter effectivity range of the routing
header must be completely covered by at least one operation otherwise
this would result in production orders being created with no operations,
    which is not supported.

    System Response

You can save the routing, however, when you trigger a release check or
try to release the routing, the system displays this error message and
    you cannot release.

    How to fix this error?

Two options are available to solve this issue. You can:
Create at least one operation that also has an unrestricted parameter
    effectivity range.
Maintain a restricted parameter effectivity range for the routing header
    that is relevant for release.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MPE_RTG_UI266 - Routing does not have at least one operation that covers all validities ?

The SAP error message MPE_RTG_UI266 indicates that there is an issue with the routing in the system. Specifically, it means that the routing does not have at least one operation that covers all validities for the material or production process you are trying to work with. This can occur in various scenarios, such as when creating production orders, planning, or during the execution of manufacturing processes.

    Cause

The error can be caused by several factors:

    1. Missing Operations: The routing for the material does not include operations for all the required validity periods (e.g., different production versions or plant-specific requirements).
    2. Incorrect Validity Dates: The validity dates for the routing operations may not align with the dates being used in the production order or planning.
    3. Routing Configuration: The routing may not be properly configured to include all necessary operations for the production process.
    4. Material Master Data Issues: The material master data may not be correctly linked to the routing, or the routing may not be assigned to the correct production version.

    Solution

To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Routing:

      • Go to the routing transaction (e.g., CA03) and check the routing for the material in question.
      • Ensure that there are operations defined for all the required validity periods.
    2. Validate Validity Dates:

      • Check the validity dates of the routing operations and ensure they cover the dates of the production order or planning run.
      • If necessary, adjust the validity dates of the routing operations.
    3. Review Production Versions:

      • If you are using production versions, ensure that the routing is assigned to the correct production version for the material.
      • You can check this in the material master (transaction MM02) under the "Work Scheduling" view.
    4. Add Missing Operations:

      • If you find that operations are missing, you may need to add them to the routing to ensure that all necessary steps are covered.
    5. Check Material Master Data:

      • Ensure that the material master data is correctly set up and linked to the appropriate routing and production version.
    6. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for any specific configurations or settings that may be affecting the routing.

    Related Information

    • Transaction Codes:
