Message text: Effectivity of component &1 does not completely cover the filter
The effectivity range of the component does not completely cover the
defined effectivity filter.
The system does not create the filter.
You want to change the routing for a specific effectivity range only. In
this case, the effectivity range of the MBOM items must cover the
effectivity range of the filter completely. Or, the effectivity range of
the component may also be valid for a larger effectivity range than the
filter. MBOM items with an effectivity range completely outside the
entered filter interval are not displayed at all.
Note that you must also make sure that all operations and operation
activities are valid for the selected filter interval. That is, all
operations and operation activities must also cover the filter interval
completely or they may also be valid for a larger effectivity.
Operations and operation activities that do not match the entered
effectivity range at all are not displayed.
<ZH>Example:
</>In the following example, the term <ZK>object </>represents either an
operation, operation activity, or a BOM item.
Filter effectivity: 20 - 30
Object1 = 20 - 30 (shown)
Object2 = 10 - 40 (shown)
Object3 = 1 - 10 (not shown)
Object4 = 20 - 41 (shown)
If there is an object with an effectivity range of 25 - 30, the filter
is not valid.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

MPE_RTG_UI164
- Effectivity of component &1 does not completely cover the filter ?The SAP error message MPE_RTG_UI164 indicates that there is an issue with the effectivity of a component in relation to the filter criteria being applied in a specific transaction or report. This typically occurs in the context of variant configuration or product structure management, where components have specific validity periods or conditions under which they are applicable.
Cause:
The error arises when the effectivity of a component (denoted as &1 in the message) does not fully match the filter criteria set in the system. This can happen due to several reasons:
- Mismatch in Effectivity Dates: The component may have a defined effectivity period (start and end dates) that does not align with the filter criteria being used.
- Incorrect Filter Settings: The filter settings may be too restrictive or incorrectly configured, leading to a situation where the component cannot be selected.
- Missing or Incorrect Configuration: The component may not be properly configured in the system, leading to discrepancies in its effectivity.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:
Check Effectivity Dates:
- Review the effectivity dates of the component in question. Ensure that the dates fall within the range specified by the filter criteria.
- If necessary, adjust the effectivity dates of the component to match the filter.
Review Filter Criteria:
- Examine the filter settings being applied. Ensure that they are set correctly and are not overly restrictive.
- Modify the filter criteria to include the effectivity of the component.
Validate Component Configuration:
- Ensure that the component is correctly configured in the system. Check for any missing data or incorrect settings that could affect its effectivity.
- If the component is part of a variant configuration, ensure that all dependencies and conditions are correctly defined.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on effectivity and filtering in the context of your application.
Testing:
- After making adjustments, test the changes to ensure that the error no longer occurs and that the component can be selected as intended.
