  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The copy feature is not possible in this case because you cannot paste
an object of plant A to an object of plant B. That is, to be able to
copy and paste an object, the object to be copied as well as the target
object must both belong to the same plant.
If, for example, you copy a buyoff that belongs to the operation
activity OA1 that belongs to operation 010 in plant A, then the buyoff
also belongs to plant A. You cannot then paste this buyoff to an
operation activity OA2 that belongs to operation 020 in plant B.

    System Response

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MPE_RTG_UI064 - You cannot paste an object in one plant to an object in a different plant ?

The SAP error message MPE_RTG_UI064, which states "You cannot paste an object in one plant to an object in a different plant," typically occurs in the context of material management or logistics when trying to copy or move objects (like materials, BOMs, or other master data) between different plants in the SAP system.

    Cause:

This error is primarily caused by the system's design to maintain data integrity and consistency across different plants. In SAP, certain objects are plant-specific, meaning they are tied to a particular plant's configuration, inventory, and operations. Attempting to paste or copy an object from one plant to another violates this principle, leading to the error message.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, consider the following steps:

    1. Check Plant Assignment: Ensure that the object you are trying to paste is intended for the same plant. If you need to create a similar object in another plant, you may need to create it manually or use a different method to replicate it.

    2. Use the Correct Transaction: If you are trying to copy data, ensure you are using the correct transaction codes or methods that allow for cross-plant data management. For example, use the appropriate transaction for creating or changing master data that supports multiple plants.

    3. Data Replication: If you need to replicate data across plants, consider using SAP's data migration tools or mass data maintenance tools that are designed for this purpose, such as LSMW (Legacy System Migration Workbench) or SAP Data Services.

    4. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on handling plant-specific objects. This can provide insights into best practices for managing data across multiple plants.

    5. User Authorization: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to perform actions across different plants. Sometimes, restrictions may be in place based on user roles.

    6. Contact Support: If the issue persists and you believe it should not be happening, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with SAP support for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional context.
    • Training and Documentation: Familiarize yourself with SAP's material management and logistics modules, as understanding the underlying processes can help prevent similar issues in the future.
    • Community Forums: Engage with SAP community forums or user groups where similar issues may have been discussed, and solutions shared.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the error and understand the underlying principles that govern plant-specific data in SAP.
