  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MPE_EXEC_SFO108 - Operation &1 already exists in order &2 as a rework operation ?

The SAP error message MPE_EXEC_SFO108 indicates that there is an attempt to add a rework operation to an order, but the operation already exists in that order. This typically occurs in the context of production or maintenance orders where operations are defined for tasks to be performed.

    Cause:

The error is caused by the following scenarios:

    1. Duplicate Operation: The operation you are trying to add as a rework already exists in the order. This can happen if the operation was mistakenly added again or if there is a misunderstanding about the operations that are already defined.
    2. Order Configuration: The order may have been configured in such a way that it does not allow duplicate operations for rework.
    3. Data Entry Error: There may have been an error in data entry or in the process of copying operations from another order.

    Solution:

To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Existing Operations: Review the operations already defined in the order (Order &2) to confirm if the operation (&1) is indeed listed. You can do this by navigating to the order details in SAP and checking the operations tab.

    2. Remove Duplicate Operation: If the operation already exists and you still need to perform a rework, consider removing the existing operation if it is not needed or modifying it as required.

    3. Modify the Operation: If the operation needs to be adjusted, you can modify the existing operation instead of trying to add a new one.

    4. Consult Documentation: Review any relevant documentation or guidelines for your specific SAP implementation to ensure that you are following the correct procedures for adding rework operations.

    5. Contact Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with a functional consultant who specializes in the module you are working with (e.g., Production Planning, Plant Maintenance).

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as CO02 (Change Production Order) or IW32 (Change Order) to manage operations effectively.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message.
    • User Training: Ensure that users are trained on how to manage operations within orders to prevent similar issues in the future.
