MM315
- Not possible to cancel the "Material is configurable" indicator ?The SAP error message MM315, which states "Not possible to cancel the 'Material is configurable' indicator," typically occurs when you attempt to change the configuration of a material that is set as configurable in the system. This error is related to the handling of configurable materials in SAP, particularly in the context of variant configuration.
Cause:
The error arises when you try to remove the "Material is configurable" indicator from a material that has been defined as configurable. This indicator is used for materials that can have different characteristics and options based on customer requirements. Once a material is marked as configurable, it cannot be easily reverted to a non-configurable state if there are dependencies or existing configurations associated with it.
Solution:
To resolve this error, consider the following steps:
Check Dependencies: Ensure that there are no existing dependencies or configurations associated with the material. If there are, you may need to delete or adjust these configurations before you can change the indicator.
Material Status: Verify the status of the material. If the material is being used in production orders, sales orders, or other transactions, you may need to complete or cancel those transactions before making changes.
Use Transaction MM02: If you are trying to change the material type, use transaction MM02 to modify the material. However, be aware that you may not be able to remove the configurability if the material has been used in transactions.
Consult Documentation: Review the SAP documentation or help files related to configurable materials and variant configuration to understand the implications of changing the configurability of a material.
Custom Development: If necessary, consult with your SAP development team to see if there are any custom programs or enhancements that can help in changing the material's configurability.
SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this issue. Sometimes, SAP releases notes that provide solutions or workarounds for specific error messages.
