MIGO042
- BOM explosion is not possible without "application" and "usage" ?The SAP error message MIGO042 indicates that a Bill of Materials (BOM) explosion is not possible because the system requires specific parameters, namely "application" and "usage," to be defined for the BOM. This error typically occurs when trying to perform a goods movement (MIGO) that involves a BOM explosion, but the necessary configuration is missing.
Cause:
- Missing BOM Application and Usage: The BOM must have a defined application (e.g., production, engineering) and usage (e.g., production, sales) in order to be used in the context of the goods movement.
- Incorrect BOM Configuration: The BOM may not be properly configured in the system, leading to the inability to perform the explosion.
- Material Master Settings: The material master data for the components or the finished product may not be set up correctly, which can affect BOM usage.
Solution:
Check BOM Configuration:
- Go to the BOM transaction (CS01, CS02, or CS03) and verify that the BOM has the correct application and usage settings.
- Ensure that the BOM is marked for the correct plant and that it is active.
Define Application and Usage:
- If the BOM does not have the required application and usage, you will need to create or modify the BOM to include these parameters.
- You can do this by editing the BOM in the BOM maintenance transaction and ensuring that the application and usage fields are filled out correctly.
Review Material Master Data:
- Check the material master records for the materials involved in the BOM. Ensure that they are set up correctly and that they reference the appropriate BOM.
- Make sure that the material types and other relevant settings are correctly configured.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for more detailed guidance on BOM configuration and the specific requirements for your version of SAP.
Testing:
- After making the necessary changes, perform a test to see if the goods movement can now be processed without encountering the error.
Related Information:
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the MIGO042 error and successfully perform the BOM explosion required for your goods movement.
