The SAP error message MH325 ("Identical areas of validity displayable only for gen. matl/distr.ch.level") typically occurs in the context of material management, particularly when dealing with material master data and distribution channels. This error indicates that there are issues with the configuration of the material's validity areas, especially when trying to display or maintain data that has overlapping or identical areas of validity.

    Cause:

The error is usually caused by one of the following reasons:

    1. Overlapping Validity Areas: The system has detected that there are multiple entries for the same material that have overlapping validity areas, which can lead to ambiguity in data retrieval.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The material master data may not be configured correctly, leading to conflicts in the distribution channel or general material level.
    3. Data Duplication: There may be duplicate entries for the same material in the system, which can cause confusion in how the data is displayed or processed.

    Solution:

To resolve the MH325 error, you can take the following steps:

      • Ensure that there are no overlapping or identical entries for the same material across different views (e.g., basic data, sales data, purchasing data).
    2. Review Distribution Channels:

      • If the material is assigned to multiple distribution channels, ensure that the areas of validity for each channel do not overlap.
      • You may need to adjust the validity periods or distribution channel assignments to eliminate conflicts.
    3. Data Cleanup:

      • If you find duplicate entries, consider merging or deleting the duplicates to ensure that each material has a unique set of validity areas.
      • Use transaction codes like MM02 to modify existing entries or MM01 to create new entries as needed.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on managing material master data and distribution channels.
