MDG_BS_BP042
- Maximum number of relationships reached for partner &1 for category &2. ?The SAP error message MDG_BS_BP042 indicates that the maximum number of relationships has been reached for a business partner (BP) in a specific category. This error typically occurs in the context of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) for Business Partners (BP).
Cause:
The error is triggered when you attempt to create or add a new relationship for a business partner, but the number of existing relationships for that partner in the specified category has reached the predefined limit. Each business partner can have a maximum number of relationships defined in the system, and once this limit is reached, no additional relationships can be created.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:
Review Existing Relationships:
- Check the existing relationships for the business partner in question. You can do this by navigating to the business partner's details in the SAP GUI or using the relevant transaction code (e.g., BP).
Delete Unnecessary Relationships:
- If there are relationships that are no longer needed, consider deleting them to free up space for new relationships. Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to perform this action.
Increase the Maximum Limit:
- If the business requirement necessitates more relationships than the current limit allows, you may need to increase the maximum number of relationships allowed for that category. This can typically be done by adjusting the configuration settings in the MDG system. Consult with your SAP Basis or MDG configuration team to make these changes.
Consult Documentation:
- Review the SAP documentation or help resources related to business partner relationships and MDG configuration for specific instructions on how to manage relationships and limits.
Check for Customizations:
- If your organization has custom developments or enhancements related to business partner management, ensure that these are not affecting the relationship limits.
