Message type: E = Error
Message class: MD - Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
Message number: 140
Message text: No data saved. Please evaluate scenario first
In the Inventory Management information structure, no data exists from
long-term planning.
No evaluation can be carried out due to a lack of data.
If you have a lot of data, we recomment you to use the report in
background mode. Alternatively, you could determine the data for the
selection criteria chosen dynamically from the planning scenario. This
has the advantage that you will always receive up-to-date data.
However, if you are processing large quantities of data, for example,
if you want to evaluate a complete plant, you must reckon with longer
runtimes.

- No data saved. Please evaluate scenario first ?The SAP error message MD140 ("No data saved. Please evaluate scenario first") typically occurs in the context of the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process. This error indicates that the system could not save the data because it requires further evaluation of the planning scenario before proceeding.
Causes:
- Incomplete Planning Scenario: The planning scenario may not be fully defined or may lack necessary parameters for the MRP run.
- Missing Master Data: Essential master data such as material master records, BOMs (Bill of Materials), or routing information may be missing or incomplete.
- MRP Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the MRP settings that prevent the system from processing the data correctly.
- Locking Issues: The data might be locked by another user or process, preventing the current transaction from saving changes.
- Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to perform the MRP run or save the data.
Solutions:
- Evaluate the Planning Scenario: Check the planning scenario settings to ensure that all necessary parameters are defined and correctly configured.
- Check Master Data: Verify that all required master data (material master, BOMs, routings) is complete and accurate. Ensure that the materials involved in the planning scenario are correctly set up.
- Review MRP Configuration: Go through the MRP configuration settings in the system to ensure they are set up correctly. This includes checking MRP types, planning strategies, and other relevant settings.
- Check for Locks: Use transaction codes like SM12 to check for any locks on the data that might be preventing the save operation. If locks are found, coordinate with the users holding those locks.
- Authorization Check: Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to execute the MRP run and save the data. This may involve checking roles and permissions in the user profile.
- Run MRP in Background: If the issue persists, consider running the MRP in the background to see if it processes without the same error.
