  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

When changing extract structure &V2&, the system determined that there
are still active updates for application &V1&. (for example, for
    extractor &V3& in client &V4& ).
If at least one extractor in application &V1& is active in a client,

extractor change and that these will terminate the update.

If you cannot ensure that no documents are being posted to the extract
structures in application &V1& when you change the extract structures,
you should deactivate the affected updates.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MCEX142 - No active updates for extractors in appl. &1 -> Long text ?

The SAP error message MCEX142 indicates that there are no active updates for extractors in the specified application. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when trying to extract data from a source system, and it suggests that the data extraction process cannot proceed because the necessary update mechanisms are not active.

    Cause:

    1. Inactive Extractors: The extractors for the specified application are not activated. This can happen if the extractors were not properly set up or if they were deactivated for some reason.
    2. Missing Data Sources: The data source might not be defined or might not have any active data extraction settings.
    3. Transport Issues: If the extractors were recently transported from another system, they may not have been activated in the target system.
    4. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to access the extractors or the data source.

    Solution:

    1. Activate Extractors:

      • Go to the transaction code RSA6 (DataSource Administration) in the source system.
      • Check if the extractors for the specified application are active. If they are not, activate them.
    2. Check Data Source Settings:

      • Ensure that the data source is correctly defined and that the necessary settings for data extraction are in place.
      • You can use transaction RSA1 to check the data source and its settings in the BW system.
    3. Transport and Activation:

      • If the extractors were transported, ensure that they are activated in the target system. You can do this in the same RSA6 transaction.
    4. Authorization Check:

      • Verify that the user has the necessary authorizations to access the extractors and the data source. This may involve checking roles and authorizations in transaction PFCG.
    5. Check for Updates:

      • If the extractors are supposed to be updated but are not, check if there are any issues with the underlying application or if there are any scheduled jobs that might be affecting the data extraction process.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • RSA6: DataSource Administration
      • RSA1: Data Warehousing Workbench
      • RSCUSTV10: Customizing settings for data sources
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address specific issues related to extractors and data sources.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation for BW and data extraction processes to ensure that all necessary steps have been followed.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the MCEX142 error and ensure that the extractors are active and functioning correctly.
