SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message text: Not possible to start sapmaco in the background for matchcode object &

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You started report sapmaco for maintaining a matchcode object in the
background. If you select exactly one matchcode object for maintenance
with report sapmaco, the matchcode IDs of the matchcode object to be
maintained will be prompted. For this reason, sapmaco may not execute
in the background if you specify the name of a matchcode object.
If you want to maintain several matchcode objects simultaneously and
specify a like pattern for the matchcode object names, all the
physically implemented matchcode IDs of the selected matchcode objects
are maintained. In this case there is no prompt and sapmaco can be
    started in the background.

    System Response

The system continues after the error message.

    How to fix this error?

    You should use transaction SE14 ( Matchcodes, editing; Matchcode IDs;
Select editing type, Select button for action) to maintain the
matchcode records. Start transaction SE14 directly or with Dictionary
-> Matchcode objects -> Utilities -> Database utility.
Calling sapmaco directly was a temporary solution. If you prefer, you
can continue to use the direct sapmaco call, but you must start sapmaco
    interactively to correct the error.
