Message type: E = Error
Message class: M7 - Inventory Management and Physical Inventory
Message number: 606
Message text: No correct selection of trans./events for backgr. processing
Batch processing has been terminated, because the stock population
contains no elements. There can be two reasons for this:
There are no stock management units for the allocated stock management
levels.
A physical inventory is already active for all stock management units
belonging to the allocated stock management levels.
Check the stock population. It may be necessary to delete the physical
inventory documents for the materials for which a physical inventory is
active. This enables these materials to be included in this inventory
sampling.

The SAP error message M7606, which states "No correct selection of trans./events for background processing," typically occurs when there is an issue with the selection criteria for background processing in the Material Management (MM) module, particularly when dealing with transactions or events that are supposed to be processed in the background.
Cause:
- Incorrect Selection Criteria: The selection criteria defined for the background job may not match any existing transactions or events. This can happen if the criteria are too restrictive or if there are no relevant records in the database.
- Missing Data: The data required for processing may be missing or incomplete, leading to the inability to select any transactions or events.
- Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the background job settings or in the related modules that prevent the correct selection of transactions.
- Authorization Issues: The user executing the background job may not have the necessary authorizations to access the required data.
Solution:
- Review Selection Criteria: Check the selection criteria used in the background job. Ensure that they are correctly defined and that they match the data available in the system.
- Check Data Availability: Verify that there are relevant transactions or events in the system that meet the selection criteria. You can do this by running a similar job in the foreground to see if any data is returned.
- Adjust Job Configuration: If the job configuration is incorrect, adjust the settings to ensure that it aligns with the expected processing requirements.
- Authorization Check: Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to execute the background job and access the required data.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the background processing job you are trying to execute.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
