The SAP error message M7522, which states "Reservation created automatically. No manual changes possible," typically occurs in the context of inventory management and material requirements planning (MRP) within the SAP system. This message indicates that a reservation has been generated automatically by the system, and as a result, manual changes to that reservation are restricted.
Cause:
- Automatic Reservation Creation: The reservation was created automatically by the system due to a process such as MRP run, production order creation, or other automated processes that generate reservations based on demand.
- System Settings: The configuration settings in the SAP system may be set to prevent manual changes to automatically created reservations to maintain data integrity and consistency.
- Document Type: The type of reservation created (e.g., for production orders, sales orders) may have specific rules that restrict manual changes.
Solution:
- Check Reservation Type: Verify the type of reservation that has been created. If it is linked to a production order or sales order, you may need to make changes at the order level rather than the reservation level.
- Review MRP Settings: If the reservation was created as part of an MRP run, review the MRP settings and parameters to understand why the reservation was generated and if adjustments are needed.
- Use Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like
MB22
(Change Reservation) to check if there are any options available for changing the reservation. If the reservation is locked for changes, you may need to look for alternative ways to manage the inventory.- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help files related to reservations and MRP to understand the implications of automatic reservations and how to manage them.
- Contact SAP Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with SAP experts for further assistance.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
