Message type: E = Error
Message class: KV - Variance Analysis for Cost Centers and Cost Objects
Message number: 151
Message text: Only remaining var. in version & - no target costs for & &
For the calculation of variances with &v2& &v3&, the
<DS:GLOS.target_costs>target costs</> in
<DS:GLOS.target_cost_version>target cost version</> &v1& are missing
for the following reasons:
There were no planned costs and/or planned quantities (see earlier
message).
The quantities on which the planned costs were based are zero in the
time period concerned. This may be caused by the fact that no goods
receipt for a cost object (such as a
<DS:GLOS.3526B6F2AFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>product cost collector</> or
<DS:GLOS.3526C388AFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>production order</>) has been
entered.
This results in target costs of zero.
Because no target costs were calculated, the difference between the
planned and actual costs could not be broken down into
<DS:GLOS.variance_category>variance categories</>. The difference is
updated as a <DS:GLOS.remaining_variance>remaining variance</>.

KV151
- Only remaining var. in version & - no target costs for & & ?The SAP error message KV151 ("Only remaining var. in version & - no target costs for & &") typically occurs in the context of controlling (CO) when working with cost planning and variance analysis. This error indicates that there are no target costs available for the specified version in the system, which is necessary for the variance calculation.
Cause:
- Missing Target Costs: The primary cause of this error is that the target costs for the specified version are not maintained in the system. This could happen if the planning process was not completed or if the target costs were not saved correctly.
- Incorrect Version: The version specified in the error message may not have any target costs assigned to it, or it may be a version that is not intended for use in the current context.
- Data Consistency Issues: There may be inconsistencies in the data, such as missing entries in the cost planning tables.
Solution:
- Check Target Costs: Verify that target costs are maintained for the specified version. You can do this by navigating to the relevant planning transaction (e.g., KP06 for cost center planning) and checking if the target costs exist for the relevant cost elements and periods.
- Maintain Target Costs: If target costs are missing, you will need to enter them. This can be done through the planning transactions in SAP, where you can input the necessary data for the version in question.
- Review Version Settings: Ensure that the version you are using is correctly set up and intended for the analysis you are performing. You can check the version settings in the controlling area configuration.
- Data Consistency Check: Run consistency checks in the controlling module to identify any discrepancies or missing data that could be causing the issue.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the version and planning process you are using.
