  • What causes this issue?

You have moved one or more characteristics from <LS>"to be derived
again"</> or <LS>"replace with fixed value"</> to <LS>"not to be
    changed"</>.

    System Response

The higher-level characteristics dependent on the selected
characteristics have also been moved, even if you did not select them.
This is due to the following reason: when a characteristic is changed,
all lower-level characteristics dependent on it also need to be changed
to maintain consistency. Likewise, when a lower-level characteristic is
moved to <LS>"not to be changed"</>, its corresponding higher-level
characteristic must equally be moved there.

    How to fix this error?

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message KE/NC132 - Other dependent or higher-level characteristics are moved ?

The SAP error message KE/NC132 "Other dependent or higher-level characteristics are moved" typically occurs in the context of Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) when there is an issue with the assignment of characteristics in a report or when trying to change the characteristics of a document that is already posted.

    Cause:

This error usually arises due to one of the following reasons:

    1. Characteristic Assignment: The characteristics you are trying to change or move are dependent on other characteristics. For example, if you are trying to change a characteristic that is linked to a higher-level characteristic, SAP will not allow this change because it could lead to inconsistencies in the data.
    2. Data Consistency: The system enforces data integrity rules, and if the change you are attempting violates these rules, the error will be triggered.
    3. Document Status: The document you are trying to modify may already be in a status that does not allow changes to certain characteristics.

    Solution:

To resolve the KE/NC132 error, consider the following steps:

    1. Check Characteristic Dependencies: Review the characteristics involved in the report or document. Ensure that you are not trying to change a characteristic that is dependent on another characteristic. You may need to adjust your approach based on the dependencies.

    2. Review Document Status: If the document is already posted, check if it is in a status that allows changes. If it is not, you may need to reverse or adjust the document before making changes.

    3. Use Correct Transaction: Ensure you are using the correct transaction for the changes you want to make. Some transactions may have restrictions on what can be modified.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the characteristics you are working with. This can provide insights into how to properly manage and change characteristics.

    5. Seek Help from SAP Support: If the issue persists and you cannot identify the cause, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP team for assistance. They may have additional tools or insights to help resolve the issue.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional context.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes in CO-PA, such as KE30 (Report Painter) or KE24 (Display Line Items), which may help in analyzing the data.
    • Training and Documentation: Consider training sessions or documentation on CO-PA and characteristic management to better understand how to handle such errors in the future.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the KE/NC132 error and implement a suitable solution.
