  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message K6112 - Key figure '&1': the aggregation '&2' is not supported ?

The SAP error message K6112, which states "Key figure '&1': the aggregation '&2' is not supported," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP HANA when working with key figures in queries or data models. This error indicates that the specified aggregation method for a key figure is not valid or supported for that particular key figure.

    Cause:

    1. Unsupported Aggregation Type: The key figure you are trying to use has an aggregation type that is not compatible with the operations you are attempting. For example, certain key figures may only support specific types of aggregations (like SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, etc.).

    2. Data Type Mismatch: The data type of the key figure may not support the requested aggregation. For instance, if a key figure is defined as a text or string type, it cannot be aggregated numerically.

    3. Configuration Issues: There may be issues in the configuration of the InfoObject or the query definition that lead to unsupported aggregations.

    4. Modeling Errors: If the key figure is part of a composite provider or a calculation view, there may be errors in the underlying data model that prevent the aggregation from being performed.

    Solution:

    1. Check Key Figure Definition: Review the definition of the key figure in the InfoObject or the data model. Ensure that the aggregation type you are trying to use is supported for that key figure.

    2. Modify Aggregation Type: If the aggregation type is not supported, consider changing it to a supported type. For example, if you are trying to use an aggregation that is not allowed, switch to a different aggregation method that is compatible.

    3. Data Type Verification: Ensure that the data type of the key figure is appropriate for the aggregation you are trying to perform. If necessary, change the data type to a numeric type that supports aggregation.

    4. Review Query Design: If the error occurs in a query, check the query design for any inconsistencies or errors. Make sure that the key figures and their aggregations are correctly defined.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific details on supported aggregations for the key figures you are working with.

    6. Testing: After making changes, test the query or data model to ensure that the error is resolved and that the desired results are achieved.
