How To Fix J6044 - No interpolation carried out

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: J6 - IS-B: Yield curves

  • Message number: 044

  • Message text: No interpolation carried out

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

All yield curves whose values have been changed in interest rate
maintenance are written to the extended interest rate table. The
extended interest rate table contains a complete sequence of basic
annual values for all yield curves of the type par rate. The basic
annual values can be interpolated, when they haven't been defined in
the reference interest rate in the yield curve type.
If no reference interest rate has been defined for a yield curve type,
then there will be no interpolation.
If the interest determination process finds no values for the reference
interest, it can't interpolate. Exactly which values the interest
determination process delivers can be checked using the function
    <ls>Display Rates</>.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

for 1. In the Implementation Guide, maintain the assignment of
reference interest to yield curve types in <ls>Establish Yield
    Curve Type</>.
for 2. Create interest rates (values) for the selected yield curves.
When you <ls>Save</>, the basic annual values for yield curves
of the type par rate are automatically interpolated, and
written to the extended interest rate table.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message J6044 - No interpolation carried out ?

The SAP error message J6044 "No interpolation carried out" typically occurs in the context of SAP's Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) module, particularly when dealing with demand planning or forecasting. This error indicates that the system was unable to perform interpolation for the data provided, which is often necessary for generating forecasts or planning data.

    Causes:

    1. Insufficient Data: The most common cause is that there is not enough historical data available for the system to perform interpolation. This can happen if the data is missing or if the time series is too short.

    2. Data Gaps: If there are significant gaps in the historical data, the system may not be able to interpolate effectively.

    3. Incorrect Configuration: The settings for the forecasting model or the data selection criteria may not be configured correctly, leading to issues in data processing.

    4. Data Type Issues: The data type or format of the input data may not be compatible with the interpolation process.

    5. Model Limitations: The forecasting model being used may have limitations that prevent it from handling the specific data set.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Historical Data: Ensure that there is sufficient historical data available for the time period being analyzed. If data is missing, try to fill in the gaps or extend the historical data range.

    2. Review Data Gaps: Analyze the data for any significant gaps or irregularities. If gaps exist, consider using methods to fill in these gaps or adjust the data collection process.

    3. Adjust Configuration: Review the configuration settings for the forecasting model. Ensure that the parameters are set correctly and that the model is appropriate for the data being used.

    4. Change Forecasting Model: If the current model is not suitable for the data, consider switching to a different forecasting model that can handle the specific characteristics of your data.

    5. Data Validation: Validate the data types and formats to ensure they are compatible with the forecasting process. Correct any discrepancies found.

    6. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the forecasting model and interpolation methods being used.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message. SAP frequently updates its knowledge base with solutions to common problems.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community forums to see if other users have encountered similar issues and what solutions they have found.
