Message class: IU - Incremental Conversion (ICNV)
Message number: 597
Message text: Table &: incremental conversion not possible
You tried to enter an incorrect table type for incremental conversion.
Only transparent tables and table clusters may be entered.
Explanation
Transparent tables, table clusters and logical cluster tables can be
converted wth Transaction ICNV. Pooled tables and table pools, on the
other hand, cannot be incrementally converted.
If a logical cluster table should be converted, make sure that the
underlying table cluster is always entered for converson. All other
tables contained in the table cluster are also converted, even if their
field list or field definition was not changed. It therefore makes
sense to bundle all changes to logical tables of a table cluster and to
execute them together.
The table is not marked for incremental conversion.
Use the Database Utility (Transaction SE14) for the conversion.

IU597
- Table &: incremental conversion not possible ?The SAP error message IU597, which states "Table &: incremental conversion not possible," typically occurs during the data conversion process in SAP systems, particularly when dealing with the conversion of data from one format or structure to another. This error indicates that the system is unable to perform an incremental conversion for the specified table.
Causes:
- Data Structure Changes: The table structure may have changed in a way that prevents incremental conversion. This could include changes in the fields, data types, or relationships with other tables.
- Missing Data: Required data for the incremental conversion may be missing or incomplete.
- Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings that are not aligned with the requirements for incremental conversion.
- Inconsistent Data: The data in the table may be inconsistent or corrupted, which can prevent the conversion process from proceeding.
- Version Compatibility: The version of the SAP system or the specific module may not support incremental conversion for the table in question.
Solutions:
- Check Table Structure: Review the structure of the table to ensure that it matches the expected format for incremental conversion. If there have been changes, you may need to revert them or adjust your conversion strategy.
- Data Validation: Validate the data in the table to ensure that it is complete and consistent. Look for any missing or corrupted records that could be causing the issue.
- Configuration Review: Check the configuration settings related to the conversion process. Ensure that all necessary settings are correctly configured for incremental conversion.
- Full Conversion: If incremental conversion is not possible, consider performing a full conversion instead. This may involve more time and resources but can bypass the limitations of incremental conversion.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to the specific table and conversion process. There may be specific guidelines or known issues that can provide further insight.
- SAP Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance. They may have additional tools or insights to help resolve the error.
