  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message ISSR_TP841 - Asset & already changed for validity date & by user & ?

The SAP error message "ISSR_TP841 Asset & already changed for validity date & by user &" typically indicates that there is a conflict or issue related to the asset management data in the SAP system. This error usually occurs when an attempt is made to change an asset that has already been modified by another user for the same validity date.

    Cause:

    1. Concurrent Changes: The asset in question has been modified by another user or process for the same validity date, leading to a conflict.
    2. Locking Mechanism: SAP uses a locking mechanism to prevent multiple users from making changes to the same data simultaneously. If one user has locked the asset for editing, another user trying to make changes will encounter this error.
    3. Data Consistency: The system is designed to maintain data integrity and consistency, which is why it prevents changes when another modification is detected.

    Solution:

    1. Check for Locks: Verify if the asset is currently being edited by another user. You can use transaction code SM12 to check for locks on the asset.
    2. Wait and Retry: If another user is editing the asset, wait for them to complete their changes and then try again.
    3. Communicate with Users: If you are in a multi-user environment, communicate with your team to ensure that changes to the asset are coordinated.
    4. Review Change Logs: Use transaction code AS03 (Display Asset) to review the change logs for the asset to understand what changes were made and by whom.
    5. Use the Correct Validity Date: Ensure that you are using the correct validity date for your changes. If the asset has been changed for that date, you may need to adjust your changes accordingly.
    6. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's SAP support team for specific guidance related to your configuration and processes.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as AS01 (Create Asset), AS02 (Change Asset), and AS03 (Display Asset).
    • User Roles and Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to the asset.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any SAP Notes related to this error message for potential patches or updates that may address the issue.
