  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message IR519 - Measurement transfer for ref. meas. points only inside the object hierary ?

The SAP error message IR519, which states "Measurement transfer for reference measurement points only inside the object hierarchy," typically occurs in the context of measurement documents or measurement points in SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) or similar modules. This error indicates that the system is trying to transfer measurement data for reference measurement points that are not properly linked within the object hierarchy.

    Cause:

    1. Incorrect Hierarchy Structure: The measurement points may not be correctly structured within the object hierarchy. This can happen if the reference measurement points are not assigned to the correct parent object or if there are missing links in the hierarchy.
    2. Reference Measurement Points: The system is attempting to process measurement points that are designated as reference points, which are not intended for direct measurement transfers.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the measurement point settings or in the object hierarchy setup.

    Solution:

    1. Check Object Hierarchy: Review the object hierarchy in the SAP system to ensure that all measurement points are correctly assigned to their respective parent objects. Make sure that the reference measurement points are properly linked.
    2. Review Measurement Points: Verify the settings of the measurement points involved. Ensure that they are not incorrectly marked as reference points if they are intended to be used for measurement transfers.
    3. Adjust Configuration: If necessary, adjust the configuration settings for measurement points and object hierarchies in the SAP system to ensure they align with the intended use.
    4. Use Correct Measurement Points: Ensure that you are using the correct measurement points for the transfer process. If you are trying to transfer measurements for reference points, consider using actual measurement points instead.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on handling measurement points and object hierarchies.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may need to use transaction codes like IK01 (Create Measurement Point), IK02 (Change Measurement Point), or IK03 (Display Measurement Point) to manage measurement points.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.
    • User Roles and Authorizations: Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to perform measurement transfers and access the relevant measurement points.
