Message text: Key-date scheduling for strategy is not possible
You tried to change the scheduling indicator of a strategy to "Time -
Key-Date".
If you want to use a strategy with the scheduling indicator "Time - Key
Date", all maintenance packages or cycles must last for at least one
month. This prerequisite is not fulfilled.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Assign a value of at least one month or multiples of a month to the
maintenance packages and cycles and then change the scheduling indicator
in the strategy to "Time - Key Date". You could also select another
scheduling indicator, for example, "Time - Factory Calendar"

- Key-date scheduling for strategy is not possible ?The SAP error message IP890 ("Key-date scheduling for strategy is not possible") typically occurs in the context of production planning and scheduling, particularly when using the planning strategies in SAP's Integrated Business Planning (IBP) or Production Planning (PP) modules. This error indicates that the system is unable to perform scheduling based on the key date specified in the planning strategy.
Causes:
- Invalid Key Date: The key date specified for scheduling may not be valid or may fall outside the permissible range for the planning strategy.
- Missing Master Data: Required master data (like material master, work center, or routing) may be missing or incorrectly configured.
- Planning Strategy Configuration: The planning strategy may not be set up correctly, or the parameters for the strategy may not align with the key date.
- Capacity Constraints: There may be capacity constraints that prevent scheduling on the specified key date.
- Calendar Settings: The factory calendar or holiday settings may not allow for scheduling on the specified key date.
Solutions:
- Check Key Date: Verify that the key date you are using for scheduling is valid and falls within the acceptable range for the planning strategy.
- Review Master Data: Ensure that all necessary master data is correctly maintained and available. Check the material master, work center, and routing for any inconsistencies.
- Validate Planning Strategy: Review the configuration of the planning strategy in the system. Ensure that it is set up correctly and that all parameters are appropriate for the key date.
- Examine Capacity: Check for any capacity constraints that may be affecting the scheduling. Ensure that there is sufficient capacity available for the planned operations.
- Check Calendar Settings: Review the factory calendar settings to ensure that the key date is not a holiday or non-working day that would prevent scheduling.
- Run Planning Run: If applicable, try running a planning run to see if it resolves the issue. Sometimes, re-running the planning process can help in recalibrating the scheduling.
