Message text: Changes to serial profile could lead to inconsistency. See Details
You are about to change serialization settings. This could lead to
unexpected behavior in your productive business processes if the serial
number profile is already assigned to a material.
If you are using Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), changing the
serialization profile can cause communication problems with the
corresponding enterprise management system, such as SAP S/4HANA or SAP
ERP. In addition, changes to the EWM serialization settings for a given
profile are ignored by your EWM system if the profile is assigned to a
product that is already in the warehouse.
Before you proceed with your change, make sure that the serial number
profile that you intend to change is not already assigned to any
materials.
If you are using EWM, refer to SAP Note 1498521. It describes the safe
way to modify serialization settings without causing any problems for
your already running business processes.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
