What causes this issue?

When maintaining the serial number profile, the stock check indicator
(represented here in colored text) is changed to the value &V1&.
The system should react with an error for this setting if it gives rise
to inconsistencies in inventory management.
If the stock check indicator &V1& is assigned to a serial number
profile , inconsistencies can arise if an exception is defined for the
serial number profile concerned, and the exception is assigned to a
movement type.

System Response

The exceptions (represented here in color), which were already defined
before the stock check indicator was changed, exist for this profile.
If the movement type grouop defined in the exception is assigned to a
movement type, this overwrites the affected settings in the serial
number profile and the consistency of the serial numbers cannot be
guaranteed.
To avoid inconsistencies, this IMG activity should not be used to
create new entries for a profile with stock check indicator &V1&.
If entries already exist, because the stock check indicator was
previously not &V1&, then these entries (exceptions) are no longer
effective.

How to fix this error?

Check if there are movement types, to which one of the exceptions which
has become unreliable is assigned. Delete both the assignment of the
movement type group to the movement type as well as the exception
defined here.
Check also whether changes to the stock check indicator should also
affect existing serial numbers. This is strongly recommended for a
productive system. To complete the changes for existing serial numbers,
you can perform the <DS:REPO.RISERNR9>Program RISERNR9</>.
