  • What causes this issue?

You defined for &V2& that long texts (of type &V1&) should be
language-independent (meaning only one central text should exist for all
languages). However, you are now using &V2& for which various long texts
(of type &V1&) have been created, for example in the languages &V3& and
    &V4&.

    System Response

The system only considers the text in the logon language and ignores all
    the other texts.

    How to fix this error?

Make sure that there is only one long text (of type &V1&) for all
    relevant &V2&.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message I4486 - System only considers the text (of type &1) in the logon language ?

The SAP error message I4486 indicates that the system is only considering the text of a specific type (denoted by &1) in the logon language. This typically occurs when there is a mismatch between the language settings in the user profile and the available texts in the system.

    Cause:

    1. Language Settings: The user’s logon language does not match the language in which the text is available in the system. For example, if a user logs in with a language setting of English, but the text is only available in German, the system will not display the text.
    2. Missing Translations: The required text may not have been translated into the user’s logon language, leading to the system defaulting to the logon language and not finding the appropriate text.
    3. Text Type: The specific type of text (e.g., documentation, messages, etc.) may not have been maintained for the selected language.

    Solution:

    1. Change Logon Language: If possible, change the logon language to one that has the required text available. This can be done in the SAP GUI by selecting the appropriate language during the logon process.
    2. Maintain Translations: If you have the necessary authorizations, check if the required texts are available in the desired language. If not, you may need to maintain the translations using transaction codes like SE63 (Translation) or SE11 (Data Dictionary) to add the missing texts.
    3. Check Text Maintenance: Use transaction SE78 or SE91 to check if the text type in question has been maintained for the required language. If not, you may need to create or update the texts.
    4. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP Basis or functional team to ensure that all necessary texts are properly maintained and available in the required languages.

    Related Information:

    • User Profile Settings: Check the user profile settings in transaction SU01 to ensure that the logon language is set correctly.
    • Language Packs: Ensure that the necessary language packs are installed in the SAP system. This can be checked with the SAP Basis team.
    • SAP Notes: Look for any relevant SAP Notes that may address specific issues related to text translations and language settings.

If the issue persists after trying the above solutions, it may be beneficial to reach out to SAP support for further assistance.
