SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: HRPIQ00ST - Messages Concerning Student Maintenance in the Framework

  • Message number: 517

  • Message text: Result of test run can differ from result of update run

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The result of an update run can differ from that of a prior test run
because of the dependencies of the different objects.

    How can this happen?

Before the system deletes student master data, it checks whether any
    <ZH>contract accounts</> or <ZH>contract objects</> exist for the
    student in question.
You can only delete the contract objects, contract account, and student
master data in an update run. When you execute a test run, the system
informs you that the contract account and student master data cannot be
deleted because at least one dependent object still exists (in this case
    , the <ZH>contract object</>).

    How to fix this error?

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message HRPIQ00ST517 - Result of test run can differ from result of update run ?

The SAP error message HRPIQ00ST517, which states "Result of test run can differ from result of update run," typically occurs in the context of executing a program or transaction in SAP that involves a test run versus an actual update run. This message is a warning rather than a critical error, indicating that the results you see in a test run may not be the same as those in a live update run.

    Cause:

    1. Test Run vs. Update Run: The primary cause of this message is the inherent difference between a test run and an update run. In a test run, the system simulates the execution of the program without making any actual changes to the database. This means that while you can see what would happen, the results may not reflect the final outcome of an actual update run, which does make changes to the database.

    2. Data Dependencies: The results can also vary due to data dependencies or conditions that may not be fully replicated in the test environment.

    3. Configuration Settings: Certain configuration settings or user authorizations may affect the outcome of the update run but not the test run.

    Solution:

    1. Review the Test Run Results: Carefully analyze the results of the test run to understand what changes would be made. Look for any warnings or messages that might indicate potential issues.

    2. Run the Update in a Controlled Environment: If you are confident in the test run results, you can proceed with the update run. However, it is advisable to perform this in a controlled environment, such as a development or quality assurance system, before executing it in the production environment.

    3. Check for Data Consistency: Ensure that the data being processed is consistent and that all necessary conditions for the update run are met.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to the specific SAP documentation related to the transaction or program you are executing. This can provide insights into what to expect during the update run.

    5. Backup Data: Always ensure that you have a backup of your data before performing any update runs, especially in production environments.

    6. Testing in a Sandbox: If possible, test the update run in a sandbox environment to see the actual results before applying them to production.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or additional guidance related to the specific transaction or program you are using.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with the transaction codes involved in the process, as they may have specific behaviors or settings that affect the outcome.
    • User Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to perform the update run, as this can also lead to discrepancies in results.

By understanding the nature of the test run versus the update run and taking appropriate precautions, you can mitigate the risks associated with this warning message.
