  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message HRPBSDEVAVG200 - Deletion is not permitted because dependent data exists ?

The SAP error message HRPBSDEVAVG200, which states "Deletion is not permitted because dependent data exists," typically occurs in the context of Human Resources (HR) or Payroll modules when attempting to delete a record that has related or dependent data. This is a common issue in SAP systems where data integrity is crucial, and the system prevents deletion to maintain consistency.

    Cause:

The error is triggered when you try to delete a record (such as an employee record, payroll data, or other HR-related entries) that has associated dependent data. This dependent data could include:

    • Payroll results
    • Time data
    • Infotypes that are linked to the record you are trying to delete
    • Other related entries in the database that reference the record

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you need to identify and address the dependent data that is preventing the deletion. Here are the steps you can take:

    1. Identify Dependent Data:

      • Use transaction codes like PA20 (Display HR Master Data) or PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data) to check the infotypes associated with the employee or record you are trying to delete.
      • Look for any infotypes that may have been created after the record you want to delete.
    2. Delete or Archive Dependent Data:

      • If you find dependent data that is no longer needed, you may delete or archive it first. Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to perform these actions.
      • For payroll data, you may need to reverse or delete payroll results before you can delete the employee record.
    3. Check for Custom Logic:

      • If your organization has custom developments or enhancements, check if there are any custom validations or logic that might be preventing the deletion.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or notes related to the specific infotypes or data you are working with. There may be specific guidelines on how to handle deletions.
    5. Seek Help from SAP Support:

      • If you are unable to identify the dependent data or if the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP team for assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Infotypes: In SAP HR, infotypes are used to store data related to employees. Each infotype has a specific purpose and can have dependencies on other infotypes.
    • Data Integrity: SAP enforces data integrity rules to ensure that the database remains consistent. Deleting records without addressing dependencies can lead to data corruption.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes for HR data management, such as PA20, PA30, PA40 (for actions), and others.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the HRPBSDEVAVG200 error and successfully delete the desired record.
