  • What causes this issue?

You have started data collection for payroll results with an
alternative data selection period (&V3& - &V4&) to data collection
    period
(&V1& - &V2&). This can lead to inaccuracies in the pay scale
    assignment and capacity utilization level.
The collected data records (cost items) are treated in the following
processes as if they apply to the capacity utilization level and pay
scale assignment valid for the data collection period. The system does
not take changes into account that have taken place to the capacity
utilization level and pay scale assignment between the data selection
    period and data collection period.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message HRHCP00_COLLECTION078 - Data selection period is not the same as data collection period ?

The SAP error message HRHCP00_COLLECTION078 indicates that there is a mismatch between the data selection period and the data collection period in the context of Human Resources (HR) data processing. This error typically arises when you are trying to process or analyze HR data, such as in payroll or time management, and the periods specified for data selection do not align with the periods defined for data collection.

    Cause:

    1. Mismatched Periods: The most common cause is that the period you are trying to select data for does not match the period for which data has been collected. For example, if you are trying to run a report for January but the data collection period is set for February, this error will occur.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the system that define the data collection periods, and these may not be aligned with the selection criteria you are using.
    3. Incorrect Date Ranges: The date ranges specified in your selection criteria may be incorrect or not properly formatted.

    Solution:

    1. Check Data Selection Period: Review the data selection period you are using in your report or transaction. Ensure that it matches the data collection period defined in the system.
    2. Adjust Data Collection Period: If necessary, adjust the data collection period in the configuration settings to align with the data selection period you intend to use.
    3. Review Configuration Settings: Go to the relevant configuration settings in the SAP system (e.g., in the IMG) and verify that the periods for data collection are set correctly.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on how to set up and manage data collection periods in your HR module.
    5. Test with Different Periods: If you are unsure about the correct periods, try running the report or transaction with different periods to identify a combination that works.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may need to use specific transaction codes related to HR data processing, such as PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data) or PC00_MXX_CALC (Payroll processing).
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.
    • User Roles and Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to access and modify the data selection and collection periods.
    • Testing in a Sandbox: If possible, test changes in a sandbox environment before applying them to the production system to avoid disruptions.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a technical consultant who specializes in SAP HR modules.
