  • What causes this issue?

You started transaction HDBS in a system with HDB as primary database.
HDBS shows all accelerator information as it would be available in a
side-by-side scenario. Use this transaction only if you need additional
information which is usually not relevant in a scenario where HDB is the
    primary database.
It is not possible to change any settings in HDBS. If you would like to
change any settings, use transaction <DS:TRAN.HDBC>HDBC</> instead.
Transaction HDBC has been adjusted to allow access only to the
accelerator information which is relevant in systems where HDB is the
primary database. Therefore some parts of the tree are not shown in
HDBC. Also, the first three standard tabs are not available in HDBC
since they are targeted toward a replication scenario which is
unnecessary when HDB is the primary database.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message HDB025 - HDB is primary DB. Transaction HDBS is for display only ?

The SAP error message HDB025 indicates that the HANA database (HDB) is set as the primary database, and the transaction HDBS is intended for display purposes only. This means that you cannot perform any modifications or changes to the database using this transaction because it is designed solely for viewing information.

    Cause:

    1. Primary Database Configuration: The error occurs when you attempt to use the HDBS transaction to make changes to a database that is configured as the primary database in a system landscape.
    2. Transaction Limitation: The HDBS transaction is specifically designed for monitoring and displaying database information, not for executing any data manipulation commands.

    Solution:

    1. Use the Correct Transaction: If you need to perform operations on the database, you should use the appropriate transaction that allows for data manipulation. For example, you might need to use the HDBSQL command line tool or other relevant transactions that support data changes.
    2. Check User Permissions: Ensure that your user account has the necessary permissions to perform the intended operations on the database.
    3. Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP HANA documentation for guidance on the appropriate transactions and tools for managing the database.

    Related Information:

    • HANA Database Administration: Familiarize yourself with the administration tools and transactions available for SAP HANA, such as HANA Studio, HANA Cockpit, and HDBSQL.
    • SAP Notes and Knowledge Base Articles: Check SAP's support portal for any specific notes or articles related to the HDB025 error for additional context or updates.
    • System Landscape: Understand the configuration of your system landscape, especially if you are working in a multi-database environment, to ensure you are using the correct database instance.
