  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You execute the flexible upload in the following scenario:
In Global Settings (transaction CXB3), you have specified the &V1&
fiscal year as the effective from fiscal year for line items in SAP
    S/4HANA.
The upload file contains data records for multiple fiscal years.
The effective from fiscal year for line items in SAP S/4HANA &V1& is
within the fiscal year range contained in the upload file.
The system persists the reported financial data depending on the
effective from fiscal year for line items in SAP S/4HANA:
Totals data (before the effective from fiscal year)
Line items in SAP S/4HANA (starting with the effective from fiscal year)
The line items in SAP S/4 HANA enable the processing and evaluation of
consolidation at a high level of detail. The data structure of the line
items in SAP S/4HANA is therefore enhanced in comparison to the data
structure of the totals data in consolidation.
In the scenario above, the data target is not unique. This means you
cannot use the current upload file.

    System Response

The system prevents the flexible upload in the scenario above by issuing
an error message in the flexible upload log.

    How to fix this error?

Create two separate upload files with the following content:
Data records for fiscal years before the effective from fiscal year &V1&
Data records for the effective from fiscal year &V1& or a later fiscal
    year
Execute the flexible upload separately for both files.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message G0796 - Data target for upload of reporting data is not unique ?

The SAP error message G0796, which states "Data target for upload of reporting data is not unique," typically occurs in the context of data extraction or reporting processes, particularly when dealing with data targets in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or similar environments. This error indicates that the system has encountered multiple data targets that match the criteria for the upload, leading to ambiguity.

    Cause:

    1. Non-Unique Data Targets: The most common cause of this error is that there are multiple data targets (like InfoProviders, InfoObjects, or DataStore Objects) that match the criteria specified in the upload process. This can happen if the naming conventions are not unique or if there are multiple versions of the same data target.

    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the data flow or in the settings of the data targets that lead to this ambiguity.

    3. Incorrect Selection Criteria: The selection criteria used for the upload may not be specific enough, causing the system to find multiple valid targets.

    Solution:

    1. Check Data Targets: Review the data targets that are configured in your system. Ensure that each target has a unique identifier and that there are no duplicates.

    2. Refine Selection Criteria: Modify the selection criteria used in the upload process to be more specific. This can help the system identify the correct data target without ambiguity.

    3. Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings for the data flow and ensure that there are no overlapping or conflicting settings that could lead to multiple targets being identified.

    4. Use Unique Identifiers: If you are using custom data targets, ensure that they are named uniquely and that their definitions do not overlap with other targets.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the data targets you are working with, as there may be additional considerations based on the version of SAP you are using.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with transaction codes related to data extraction and reporting, such as RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) or RSO2 (DataSource Maintenance).
    • Community Forums: Engage with SAP community forums or support channels where similar issues may have been discussed, as other users may have encountered and resolved the same error.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the G0796 error and implement a solution to resolve it.
