  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FVD_PROD_ATTR435 - Required attribute &1 is red, although higher-level attribute &2 is green ?

The SAP error message FVD_PROD_ATTR435 indicates a situation in which a required attribute (denoted as &1) is marked as red (indicating an error or missing information), while a higher-level attribute (denoted as &2) is marked as green (indicating that it is correctly filled or valid). This inconsistency typically arises in the context of product master data or variant configuration in SAP.

    Cause:

    1. Data Inconsistency: The required attribute is not filled in, even though the higher-level attribute is correctly filled. This can happen if the system expects certain attributes to be filled based on the configuration of the product.
    2. Configuration Settings: The configuration settings for the product might not be correctly defined, leading to a mismatch between required and higher-level attributes.
    3. Missing Dependencies: There may be dependencies defined in the configuration that require the lower-level attribute to be filled based on the value of the higher-level attribute.

    Solution:

    1. Check Attribute Values: Review the values of both the required attribute (&1) and the higher-level attribute (&2). Ensure that the required attribute is filled in correctly.
    2. Review Configuration Settings: Go to the configuration settings for the product and verify that the dependencies and requirements are correctly defined. Make sure that the required attribute is set to be mandatory when the higher-level attribute is selected.
    3. Adjust Dependencies: If necessary, adjust the dependencies in the configuration to ensure that the required attribute is filled when the higher-level attribute is green.
    4. Data Maintenance: If you have access, go to the relevant transaction (like CU50 for configuration) and fill in the missing required attribute. Save the changes and check if the error persists.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation or help files related to product configuration and attributes for more detailed guidance on how to manage attributes and dependencies.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as CU50 (Configuration) or MM02 (Change Material) to manage product attributes.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message.
    • User Roles: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to make changes to product attributes and configurations.
    • Testing: After making changes, perform tests to ensure that the configuration behaves as expected and that the error message no longer appears.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a functional consultant who specializes in product configuration.
