  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FTBU482 - Conversion of table & has not yet been released ?

The SAP error message FTBU482 indicates that a conversion of a table has not yet been released. This typically occurs in the context of data dictionary changes, particularly when a table structure has been modified but the changes have not been activated or released in the system.

    Cause:

    1. Unreleased Table Changes: The most common cause of this error is that the table in question has been modified (e.g., fields added, removed, or changed) but those changes have not been activated or released in the SAP system.
    2. Transport Issues: If the changes were made in a development environment and are supposed to be transported to a quality or production environment, the transport may not have been executed or may have failed.
    3. Versioning Issues: There may be versioning issues where the system is trying to access an older version of the table that has not been updated.

    Solution:

    1. Activate the Table: Go to the Data Dictionary (transaction SE11) and check the table in question. If it shows that it is not activated, activate it. This can usually be done by selecting the table and clicking on the "Activate" button.
    2. Check Transport Requests: If the changes were made in a development environment, ensure that the transport request containing the changes has been released and imported into the target environment (e.g., quality or production).
    3. Check for Dependencies: Sometimes, other objects (like views or programs) may depend on the table. Ensure that all dependent objects are also activated.
    4. Recheck the Changes: If you are unsure about the changes made, review the change log or the transport logs to ensure that everything is in order.
    5. Consult Documentation: If the issue persists, consult SAP documentation or support for any specific notes related to the error message FTBU482.
