Message text: Multi-level node becomes leaf node when its subordinate nodes are deleted
The multi-level node &V3&&V4& (hierarchical part, with node identifier
&V2&) becomes a new leaf node for the <DS:DE.FMHIE_HIE_ID>hierarchy ID
</> &V1& after its subordinate nodes are removed.
Since the multi-level node &V3&&V4& is already used for budgeting and
the following <ZK>BA definition rule</> is used for the hierarchy ID
&V1&: <ZH>All Addresses Except Leaves are Valid Budget Addresses</>, the
deletion of multi-level nodes leads to inconsistencies.
The subordinate nodes for the multi-level node &V3&&V4& (hierarchical
part) may not be deleted from the multi-level budget structure.
Only delete multi-level nodes in such a way that new leaf nodes are not
already used for budgeting.

FMHIE435
- Multi-level node becomes leaf node when its subordinate nodes are deleted ?The SAP error message FMHIE435 indicates that a multi-level node in a hierarchical structure has become a leaf node because its subordinate nodes have been deleted. This typically occurs in the context of hierarchical data structures, such as those used in Financial Management (FM) or other modules that utilize hierarchical representations of data.
Cause:
- Deletion of Subordinate Nodes: The primary cause of this error is the deletion of subordinate nodes (children) from a multi-level node (parent). When all subordinate nodes are removed, the parent node no longer has any children, thus it becomes a leaf node.
- Data Integrity Rules: SAP enforces data integrity rules that prevent certain actions when they would violate the hierarchical structure. If a parent node is left without children, it may trigger this error.
Solution:
- Check Hierarchical Structure: Review the hierarchical structure to ensure that you are not unintentionally deleting all subordinate nodes of a multi-level node. If you need to delete nodes, consider whether you can retain at least one child node.
- Reassign or Retain Nodes: If you need to delete certain nodes, consider reassigning them to another parent node or retaining at least one child node under the multi-level node to maintain its status as a parent.
- Use Transaction Codes: Depending on the context, you may need to use specific transaction codes (like FMAVCR01 for budgetary control) to manage the hierarchical structure properly.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on managing hierarchical data structures in your particular module.
