Message class: FMFG_RECON_E - Reconciliation Tool message class
Message number: 021
Message text: Warning issued by data provider &1; selection includes open periods
Postings selected for reconciliation by the specified data provider
include postings from open periods.
This warning is issued, but reconciliation processing continues.
Be aware that the reconciliation process may report false out of
balance conditions that may result from posting activity occurring
while the rule is being processed. Timing issues may mean that such
postings are included by one data provider but not by another.
If possible, run the reconciliation process only against closed
periods. If reconciliation errors are reported during a run that
includes open period data, you must run the report again and verify
whether this data is still reported by the second run.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Warning issued by data provider &1; selection includes open periods ?The SAP error message FMFG_RECON_E021 indicates that there is a warning related to the selection of open periods in the context of a data provider. This message typically arises in the context of Financial Management (FM) or Funds Management (FM) modules when you are trying to execute a report or transaction that involves financial data.
Cause:
The warning is triggered because the selection criteria you have specified include open periods. Open periods are those periods in which financial transactions can still be posted. Solution:
Review Selection Criteria: Check the selection criteria you have set for your report or transaction. If you do not need to include open periods, adjust your selection to exclude them.
Close Open Periods: If it is appropriate for your business process, consider closing the open periods. This will prevent any further postings in those periods and may eliminate the warning.
Acknowledge the Warning: If you are aware of the implications and still wish to proceed with the report or transaction, you can acknowledge the warning and continue. However, be cautious as this may lead to inconsistencies in your financial data.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's internal guidelines regarding the handling of open periods in financial reporting.
