  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FITP261 - Choose the same airline (without code sharing) for departure and return ?

The SAP error message FITP261 typically occurs in the context of travel management within SAP systems, particularly when dealing with flight bookings. This error indicates that the system requires the same airline to be selected for both the departure and return flights, and it specifically mentions that code-sharing flights are not allowed.

    Cause:

    1. Different Airlines Selected: The user has selected different airlines for the outbound and return flights.
    2. Code Sharing: The selected flights may involve code-sharing arrangements, which the system does not permit in this scenario.
    3. Travel Policy Restrictions: The organization’s travel policy may enforce the use of the same airline for both legs of the journey to ensure consistency, cost control, or other reasons.

    Solution:

    1. Select the Same Airline: When booking flights, ensure that both the departure and return flights are with the same airline. This means you should not mix airlines for the outbound and inbound journeys.
    2. Avoid Code Sharing: If you are using a flight that is part of a code-sharing agreement, choose a flight that is operated solely by the airline you want to use, rather than a flight that is marketed by one airline but operated by another.
    3. Check Travel Policy: Review your organization’s travel policy to understand any specific requirements regarding airline selection. If necessary, consult with your travel coordinator or administrator for guidance.
    4. Use the SAP Travel Management Module: If you are using the SAP Travel Management module, ensure that you are following the correct procedures for booking flights and that you are aware of any restrictions in place.
