  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FDT_WD_TOOLS126 - Objects are locked in different transport requests (&1 and &2) ?

The SAP error message FDT_WD_TOOLS126 indicates that there are objects that are locked in different transport requests. This typically occurs when multiple transport requests are trying to modify the same object, leading to a conflict. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:

    Cause:

    1. Concurrent Modifications: Two or more developers are trying to modify the same object (like a Web Dynpro component, for example) at the same time, and each has their changes in different transport requests.
    2. Transport Request Locking: When an object is locked in a transport request, it cannot be modified in another request until the lock is released.
    3. Incomplete Transport Management: Sometimes, if a transport request is not properly released or is still in a "locked" state, it can lead to this error.

    Solution:

    1. Identify the Transport Requests: Check the transport requests mentioned in the error message (&1 and &2). You can do this by using transaction code SE09 or SE10 to view the transport requests and their statuses.

    2. Release or Unlock the Transport Request:

      • If you have the necessary authorizations, you can release the transport request that is locking the object. This can be done in SE09/SE10 by selecting the transport request and choosing the "Release" option.
      • If the transport request is stuck or needs to be unlocked, you may need to contact your Basis team to help unlock it.
    3. Coordinate with Team Members: If multiple developers are working on the same object, coordinate with your team to ensure that only one person is making changes at a time. This can help prevent conflicts.

    4. Check Object Lock Status: You can check the lock status of the object using transaction code SM12. This will show you which user or transport request is currently locking the object.

    5. Use Transport Organizer: If you are using the Transport Organizer, ensure that you are managing your transport requests properly and that you are not trying to modify the same object in different requests.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): Understanding how the TMS works can help you manage transport requests more effectively.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address specific issues related to transport requests and locking mechanisms.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation on transport requests and object locking for more detailed procedures and best practices.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the error and prevent it from occurring in the future. If the issue persists, consider reaching out to your SAP Basis team for further assistance.
