  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FDT_TRANSPORT036 - BRF+: Object has inactive version; activate before transport; s. longtext ?

The SAP error message FDT_TRANSPORT036 indicates that you are trying to transport a Business Rule Framework (BRF+) object that has an inactive version. This error typically occurs when you attempt to transport a BRF+ application, rule, or decision table that has not been activated in the source system.

    Cause:

The primary cause of this error is that the BRF+ object you are trying to transport has not been activated. In BRF+, objects can have multiple versions, and only the active version can be transported. If the object is in an inactive state, the transport request cannot proceed.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you need to activate the BRF+ object before attempting to transport it. Here are the steps to do this:

    1. Access the BRF+ Workbench:

      • Go to transaction code BRF+ or BRF in the SAP GUI.
    2. Locate the Object:

      • Find the specific BRF+ object (e.g., application, rule, decision table) that is causing the error.
    3. Check Versions:

      • In the BRF+ workbench, check the versions of the object. You can usually find this in the properties or version management section.
    4. Activate the Object:

      • If the object is inactive, activate it by selecting the appropriate version and choosing the "Activate" option. This will make the object active and ready for transport.
    5. Transport the Object:

      • After activation, you can proceed with the transport request. Ensure that the transport request includes the activated version of the BRF+ object.

    Related Information:

    • BRF+ Version Management: Understanding how version management works in BRF+ is crucial. Each object can have multiple versions, and only one can be active at a time.
    • Transport Management System (TMS): Familiarize yourself with the TMS in SAP, as it governs how objects are transported between different systems (development, quality assurance, production).
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might provide additional insights or updates regarding BRF+ transport issues.
