  • What causes this issue?

During data transfer between BRFplus and the calling application, the
system has determined the following problem:
The system tries to transfer data stored in structure data object &v1&.
The structure contains at least two quantity fields, and the units of
measure are not identical in all fields. At the same time, the
corresponding data structure of the calling application contains only
one reference field for the unit of measure. Therefore, transferring a
record which contains different units of measure at the same time
between the two structures is not possible.
Note: The problem was determined in structure &v1& at field &v2&.

    System Response

    The system raises an exception.

    How to fix this error?

If this error occurs, this may indicate that something went wrong in the
called BRFplus application. Possible root causes may be data
inconsistency or an error during value assignment to the structure
fields. Investigate the behavior of the BRFplus application to find the
    error.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FDT_EXPRESSIONS649 - Quantities with different units cannot be transferred ?

The SAP error message FDT_EXPRESSIONS649 indicates that there is an issue with transferring quantities that have different units of measurement. This typically occurs in scenarios where data is being processed or transferred between different systems or modules, and the units of measurement for quantities do not match.

    Cause:

    1. Unit Mismatch: The most common cause of this error is that the quantities being processed have different units (e.g., kilograms vs. grams, liters vs. milliliters).
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the material master or in the settings of the relevant SAP modules that define how units of measure are handled.
    3. Data Entry Errors: Incorrect data entry or data import processes may lead to mismatched units.
    4. Inconsistent Master Data: If the master data for materials or products is inconsistent, it can lead to this error when trying to perform operations that involve these materials.

    Solution:

    1. Check Units of Measure: Review the quantities involved in the transaction and ensure that they are using the same unit of measure. Convert them if necessary.
    2. Material Master Data: Verify the material master data to ensure that the units of measure are correctly defined and consistent.
    3. Configuration Review: Check the configuration settings in the relevant SAP modules (like MM, SD, or FI) to ensure that units of measure are set up correctly.
    4. Data Validation: Implement data validation checks to ensure that only compatible units of measure are processed together.
    5. Error Handling: If this error occurs during a batch process or data import, consider implementing error handling to catch and correct these issues before they cause a failure.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed information on units of measure and how they are managed within the system.
    • Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like MM03 (Display Material), MM02 (Change Material), or SE11 (Data Dictionary) to check and modify the relevant data.
    • User Exits and BAdIs: If you are developing custom solutions, consider using user exits or Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) to enforce unit consistency during data processing.
    • Support Notes: Check SAP Support Portal for any relevant notes or patches that may address this specific error message.

By addressing the underlying causes and ensuring that all quantities are using compatible units of measure, you should be able to resolve the FDT_EXPRESSIONS649 error.
