  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FBICRC_COHIER009 - &1 &2 is locked by user &3 ?

The SAP error message FBICRC_COHIER009 indicates that a certain object (such as a document or a record) is locked by a user, preventing other users from accessing or modifying it. This is a common issue in SAP systems, especially in financial transactions where multiple users may be trying to access the same data simultaneously.

    Cause:

The error message typically arises due to the following reasons:

    1. User Locking: A user is currently editing or has opened the object in a transaction, which locks it for other users.
    2. Session Timeout: A user may have left a session open, causing the object to remain locked.
    3. System Error: Sometimes, a system error or crash can leave objects in a locked state.

    Solution:

To resolve the issue, you can take the following steps:

    1. Identify the Lock:

      • Use transaction code SM12 to view the lock entries in the system.
      • Enter the relevant object name or user ID to find the specific lock.
    2. Unlock the Object:

      • If you have the necessary authorizations, you can manually delete the lock entry from the SM12 transaction.
      • Be cautious when unlocking objects, as this may lead to data inconsistencies if the user is still working on the object.
    3. Contact the User:

      • If possible, contact the user who has locked the object and ask them to release it by closing their session or saving their work.
    4. Check for Background Jobs:

      • Sometimes, background jobs may hold locks. Check transaction SM37 to see if any jobs are running that might be causing the lock.
