  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FB_ICRC078 - Field '&1' exists already in posting structure ?

The SAP error message FB_ICRC078, which states "Field '&1' exists already in posting structure," typically occurs during the configuration or execution of financial postings in SAP. This error indicates that there is a duplicate field in the posting structure, which is not allowed.

    Cause:

    1. Duplicate Field Definition: The error arises when a field that is being defined or used in a posting structure already exists in that structure. This can happen during the configuration of financial documents, where fields are defined for various purposes (e.g., account postings, tax calculations).
    2. Incorrect Configuration: If the posting structure has been modified or customized incorrectly, it may lead to conflicts where the same field is defined multiple times.
    3. Transport Issues: If changes were transported from one system to another (e.g., from development to production), it might lead to inconsistencies if the same field was defined in both systems.

    Solution:

    1. Check Posting Structure Configuration:

      • Go to the configuration settings for the relevant posting structure in SAP (e.g., via transaction codes like OBY6 for financial accounting).
      • Review the fields defined in the posting structure and ensure that there are no duplicates.
    2. Remove Duplicate Fields:

      • If you identify duplicate fields, remove or rename one of them to resolve the conflict.
    3. Transport Management:

      • If the issue arose after a transport, check the transport logs and ensure that the posting structure was correctly transported without duplicating fields.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or notes related to the specific posting structure you are working with to ensure compliance with best practices.
    5. Testing:

      • After making changes, perform thorough testing to ensure that the posting structure works as intended without errors.

    Related Information:
