  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FARR_BRF_UI009 - The Decision Table contains non-simple parameter. Change is not allowed. ?

The SAP error message FARR_BRF_UI009 indicates that there is an issue with a decision table in the Business Rule Framework (BRF) where a non-simple parameter is being used. This error typically arises when the decision table is trying to use complex data types or structures that are not supported in the context of the decision table.

    Cause:

    1. Non-Simple Parameter: The decision table is configured with parameters that are not simple types (e.g., structures, tables, or complex data types). BRF+ decision tables can only work with simple parameters (like strings, numbers, etc.).
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The decision table may have been incorrectly set up, leading to the inclusion of non-simple parameters.
    3. Data Type Mismatch: There may be a mismatch between the expected data types in the decision table and the actual data types being used.

    Solution:

    1. Review Parameter Types: Check the parameters defined in the decision table. Ensure that all parameters are of simple types. If any parameter is complex, consider changing it to a simple type or restructuring your logic.
    2. Modify Decision Table: If you need to use complex data, consider using a different approach, such as using a function or a different rule type that can handle complex data types.
    3. Recreate the Decision Table: If the decision table is too complex or incorrectly configured, it may be easier to recreate it with the correct parameters.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation for BRF+ to understand the limitations and requirements for decision tables and parameters.

    Related Information:

    • BRF+ Documentation: SAP provides extensive documentation on BRF+ that can help you understand how to work with decision tables and parameters.
    • SAP Community: Engaging with the SAP Community can provide insights and solutions from other users who may have faced similar issues.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional guidance.
