Message type: E = Error
Message class: FAGL_MIG - Migration to New General Ledger Accounting
Message number: 224
Message text: Migration date &1 is in the past
You want to assign a new ledger to a company code. The date from which
this assignment becomes valid is determined using the migration date.
However, the migration date is in the past.
Data can only be built subsequently in the new ledger that has been
assigned provided that the new ledger is <ZH>not</> intended to replace
an existing account approach. Otherwise, the necessary conversion
activities <ZH>cannot</> be performed.
If you want to replace an existing account approach with the new ledger,
you need to cancel the maintenance dialog and specify a migration date
in the future. You can then assign the ledger to the company code.
If you want to implement the new ledger without using it to replace an
existing account approach, you can save the entry. Note, however, that
this increases the effort required for building consistent data for the
ledger.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

FAGL_MIG224
- Migration date &1 is in the past ?The SAP error message FAGL_MIG224 indicates that the migration date specified for a financial migration process is set in the past. This typically occurs during the migration of financial data to the new General Ledger (G/L) in SAP S/4HANA or during the transition from classic G/L to new G/L.
Cause:
- Migration Date Set Incorrectly: The migration date you have entered is earlier than the current date. This can happen if the migration date is not updated or if there is a misunderstanding about the required date.
- System Configuration: The system may have been configured to restrict migration to future dates only, preventing any past dates from being accepted.
Solution:
- Check Migration Date: Review the migration date you have entered. Ensure that it is set to a date that is today or in the future.
- Update Migration Date: If the migration date is indeed in the past, update it to a valid date that meets the requirements of your migration process.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation or migration guides specific to your version of SAP to ensure that you are following the correct procedures for setting the migration date.
- System Settings: If you believe the migration date should be allowed to be in the past (for example, if you are correcting historical data), consult with your SAP Basis or configuration team to review system settings and permissions.
