  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FAGL_ALE013 - Document contains too many line items for a parked document ?

The SAP error message FAGL_ALE013, which states "Document contains too many line items for a parked document," typically occurs when you are trying to park a financial document that exceeds the maximum number of line items allowed for parked documents in the system.

    Cause:

    1. Line Item Limit: SAP has a predefined limit for the number of line items that can be included in a parked document. This limit is set in the system configuration and can vary based on the version and specific settings of your SAP environment.
    2. Configuration Settings: The limit is often set to prevent performance issues and to ensure that the system can handle document processing efficiently.

    Solution:

    1. Reduce Line Items: The most straightforward solution is to reduce the number of line items in the document you are trying to park. You can do this by:

      • Splitting the document into multiple smaller documents, each containing fewer line items.
      • Reviewing the entries to see if any can be combined or eliminated.
    2. Check Configuration: If you frequently encounter this issue and the number of line items is legitimate for your business processes, you may want to check the configuration settings:

      • Transaction Code: Use transaction code OBY6 to access the configuration for parked documents.
      • Parameter Settings: Look for the parameter that defines the maximum number of line items for parked documents. You may need to consult with your SAP Basis or Financials team to adjust this setting if necessary.
    3. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to the FAGL_ALE013 error for any additional insights or updates that may pertain to your specific version of SAP.

    4. SAP Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue through the above methods, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance. They may provide patches or additional configuration options based on your specific system setup.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this error or provide guidance on configuration changes.
    • Performance Considerations: Be aware that increasing the limit for line items may have performance implications, especially if documents with a very high number of line items are processed frequently.
    • Testing Changes: If you decide to change configuration settings, ensure that you test the changes in a development or quality assurance environment before applying them to production.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the FAGL_ALE013 error effectively.
